Hojlund joined Manchester United in the summer of 2023 from Serie A side Atalanta, however, the highly-rated Danish striker has struggled for form under both of their coaches: Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim. The 22-year-old has only scored 24 goals in 88 appearances and United are now looking to sign a new striker for next season.

The Sun has now reported that United have drawn up a swap-deal that would involve Hojlund returning to Atalanta while Lookman would head to Old Trafford. The Serie A side are said to still be backing their former striker and would not be against bringing the Danish international back home. However, the deal would hinge on Lookman being open to a move to United, as he remains keen on returning to the Premier League.

United are not completely hinging their transfer plans on Lookman moving to the Old Trafford, as they also have the likes of Ipswich Town's Liam Delap and Wolves' Matheus Cunha on their list of potential signing. However, it is highly possible that Hojlund may not remain with the Red Devils.
WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD?
The Red Devils know and understand that their ability to pull top players this summer could hinge on whether they can play Champions League football next season. They will not be able to do the same via the Premier League and will now have to win the Europa League this season to do so.
