Chelsea fans had to experience missing out on a rumoured target last week when Everton striker Romelu Lukaku chose Manchester United over Stamford Bridge.
A similar situation has arisen now that Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez has snubbed the Premier League for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
The German club announced on Tuesday that they have secured the Colombian’s services on a two-year loan with an option to buy.
Earlier this month, the Daily Star reported claims made by Diario Gol that Chelsea had enquired about Rodriguez’s availability.
The 25-year-old was also linked to Manchester United, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, but he has opted instead to join the German champions.
It has been a frustrating transfer window so far for the Blues, as their only significant acquisition has been Antonio Rudiger from Roma.
After hearing the news that Bayern have nabbed Rodriguez’s signature, some Chelsea fans expressed their fury on Twitter.
Others, though, played down the missed opportunity by suggesting that he was never the right fit for the Premier League champions.
