According to a report by iNews, Manchester United have held talks about appointing former Tottenham Hotspur head of recruitment Paul Mitchell as their new director of football as they look to reunite him with Mauricio Pochettino, and Spurs fans have been quick to react on Twitter.
The Red Devils sacked Jose Mourinho on Tuesday and appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as his replacement in a caretaker role until the end of the season, when they will look to bring in a long-term successor to the Portuguese.
iNews report that United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has held talks with Mitchell, currently employed by RB Leipzig, about a move, saying he had a good relationship with Pochettino during the duo’s time in north London and Southampton previously.
Tottenham supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the story, and while one said it “could see Vincent Janssen sign for Man Utd”, another simply said “Poch doesn’t like Paul Mitchell”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
